Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a famous natural arch formed of lime stone, found off the Jurassic Coast in Lulworth,Dorset. It is said to have formed over 25 million years ago, at the same time as the Alps due to the movement of the tectonic plates. You may ask why its called the Jurassic Coast, this is due to several fossils that have been found along the coast line, which runs for about 155km, stretching from Exmouth to East Dorset.

Been a born and bread beach-bum, been near the ocean made my heart exceptionally happy! Although the weather didn't go exactly as I hoped, it was never the less spectacular.

The coast line not only provided the best views, but a never ending path along the cliffs that I could have walked along for days! ( Although not sure my legs would have agreed with the hills - and you definitely need good walking shoes!) The beach provides a great place for a picnic lunch and amazing views of the cliffs and of course the Arch. It even has some sand! Although it was a bit to cold to let my toes touch it. Durdle door also neighbors the historical Man of War bay, as well as Lulwoth Cove, which was just one more hill away!
